tirakita The melding of the slow and fast versions of SOTRS creates a dizzying, thrilling sense of rotational motion over time. It feels like liftoff into space. Favorite track: Scratches on the Readable Surface Live Version.

about

This is a self-release of the live version of Scratches on the Readable Surface, which is the original version of the piece later split into its slower (SOTRS) and faster version (Scratches on the Readable Surface) on my album Patterns of Consciousness (Important Records, 2017).
This is my favourite piece to play live as the slowly accelerating part requires all the energies of my soul and it's a different journey every time but when I had to record it for Patterns of Consciousness I couldn't accept a static, dead version of this music, which I always perceived as a live, dynamic and self-evolving organism. So I decided to split it into two different pieces, a fast and slow version but always felt that I failed in truly express the spirit of this music which lies in that slow acceleration, in the process, in the continuum between the initial drones and the punctuated, fast counterpoint at the end. I feel in THAT process lies music and what really drew me into music. A process of change, of becoming, of dissolution, of life - where sound carries you completely outside your ego boundaries, unbounded in time and space. I shared this piece with you many times in live performances but I am happy to finally make this available on a recorded format!
